Scotch Bonnet Catering is a social enterprise and emerging social firm that provides authentic, high quality African Caribbean catering serivces, combined with real training and employment opportunities for people with mental health needs and learning difficulties.

As a social enterprise, we rely on our customers and supporters to enable us to continue providing opportunities for vulnerable people to gain employment and training opportunities. We thank all those that contribute to the success and development of Scotch Bonnet Catering.

Scotch Bonnet produces top quality African and Caribbean food, and complies with the highest level of food safety standards.

Our Background

Scotch Bonnet Catering was established by Southside Partnership (a South London based charity) in 2003, and has grown out of the extremely popular café at the Fanon Day Centre in Brixton. We realised that we could build upon this success to expand our catering services, while also providing a means for Southside service users to gain vital training, experience and employment opportunities. Through participation in Scotch Bonnet, our trainees can gain valuable skills and experience which opens up new opportunities and greater independence

Scotch Bonnet is a not-for profit social firm. This means that any profits made by the business will be re-invested into the enterprise, enabling us to provide more training and employment opportunities for people with mental health needs and learning difficulties.

To become a viable not-for-private profit social enterprise.

Our Objectives

To create a successful social firm as an independent trading company that will become fully operational from April 2006
To provide high quality catering services, serving nutritious African and Caribbean food to local statutory and voluntary organisation, businesses and independent groups
To create paid employment and work experience opportunities for people with mental health needs and learning difficulties
To raise the profile of people with mental health needs and learning difficulties in gaining and sustaining employment
To become a model of good practice in creating employment and on-the-job training opportunities for people with mental health needs and learning difficulties, which will, in due course, become a transferable idea for other locations and organisations
